I. Introduction

Opening Assignment:

Warm-Up: Name the functional groups and draw their structures.
Review warm-up
State the purpose

II. The Lesson:

Activity #1: Review the functional groups practice
Activity #2: Draw an alkane structure
Activity #3: Name the alkane structure
Activity #4: If necessary, research the longer chain names

CH₃(CH₂)₇₁CH₃: triheptadecane

Activity #5: When necessary, introduce systematic branch chain names (ie.

27-(1,3-dimethylnonyl)-

Activity #6: Repeat activities 2 - 5
Activity #7: Complete "Organic or Not" and find an OPDC
Activity #8: Complete activities 2 - 5 with competition
