Origin : The name is derived from Niobe, in Greek mythology the daughter of Tantalus, after whom the very similar element is named. Niobium was once known in the USA as columbium.
Description :
A silvery metal that is very resistant to corrosion and is added in small amounts to improve stainless steels.
